Why This Matters
Welcome email open rate is the single most important number in solo ads
Your vendor will tell you they delivered 200 clicks. They cannot fake the number that shows up in your tracker. But they can absolutely send fake or low-quality traffic that opts in to your form, never opens your welcome email, and never buys anything.
The only number you control that catches this is your welcome email open rate — the percentage of new subscribers who open the very first email you send them. Real subscribers open at 35-55%. Fake traffic opens at single digits.
Without working email tracking, you are flying blind on the most important quality signal in solo ads.
Your Analyzer diagnosis will be limited. You will not be able to tell real leads from fake ones. Your vendor scorecard will be missing its strongest data point.

Setup Steps
How to set up your welcome email properly
Whichever autoresponder you choose, these are the steps that matter for solo ads:
- Create a new list (or "form" or "audience") for your solo ad campaigns. Don't mix solo ad subscribers with subscribers from other sources. You want clean data per traffic source.
- Set up an automated welcome email that sends immediately on opt-in. Not a sequence yet — just one welcome email that goes out within seconds of someone subscribing. This is the email whose open rate you will track.
- Test it yourself. Go to your opt-in page, sign up with a test email address, and confirm the welcome email arrives. If it doesn't arrive, your tracking will show 0% open rate and the Analyzer will think every campaign is fake traffic.
- Connect your opt-in page to the autoresponder. Whatever your funnel uses (ClickFunnels, LeadPages, your own page), make sure the form actually submits to your autoresponder list. Test by opting in.
- Add at least 5 follow-up emails. Phase 1's funnel readiness check requires this. Even basic emails are fine — the goal is keeping subscribers warm, not perfection.
Finding Your Open Rate
How to check your welcome open rate at 48 hours
The open rate matters most about 48 hours after your campaign ends. By then, most real subscribers will have checked their email. Earlier than that, the number is incomplete.
- Log into your autoresponder.
- Find the analytics or reports section (named differently in each platform).
- Locate your welcome email. Most platforms show it as a "broadcast" or "automation" with stats next to it.
- Look for the open rate column. It is typically shown as a percentage.
- That percentage is what you enter into Solo Ad IQ's Campaign Results page.
If the open rate is 0% or close to it, your tracking might not be set up correctly — go back through the setup steps above before deciding the traffic was bad.
Reading the Numbers
What your welcome open rate is telling you
35% to 55%
Healthy. Real subscribers from real human traffic. This is what you want from a vendor.
20% to 34%
Mixed. Some real subscribers, some low-quality. Run again with the same vendor before deciding — it could also be your subject line or sender reputation.
Below 20%
Almost certainly fake or junk traffic. Stop buying from this vendor. The Analyzer will flag this clearly when you run it.
A vendor that consistently produces below-20% open rates is selling you traffic that subscribes but does not engage. It is the most common scam in solo ads, and welcome open rate is how you catch it.
